Community Garden

St. George's Gardens are located on land that was owned and maintained as private gardens by the mining engineer and industrialist Hamilton Smith II. His estate, known as the Red Tower, comprised land on both sides of Main Street including the church, rectory (then the gardener's residence) and property that is now St. George's Church. The congregation is committed to stewardship of the property and to maintaining its history as green space in downtown Durham. We are pleased to offer local residents access to this garden space for local food production. We appreciate your cooperation and community spirit to make this a successful program.

The fee for a 4'x8' plot is $20; for a 4'x4' plot, $10.

For further details and/or to rent a spot, please contact the church office at 603-868-2785.
